StrideNote (“StrideNote”, “StrideNote Studio”, “we”, “us”) runs stridenote.net. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit or interact with the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this deliberately plain and limited. StrideNote is an independent research and media studio, not a data business. We aim to follow the principles of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for everyone who uses the site, wherever you are.
What we collect
We only collect what we need:
- When you subscribe to our newsletter: your email address. Our newsletter is handled by Substack, so your email is stored and processed by Substack on our behalf.
- When you contact us or submit a form: your name, email address, and whatever you choose to write.
- When you comment: your name, email address, the comment, and (optionally) your website. WordPress may also record your IP address and browser details to help prevent spam.
- Automatically, as you browse: basic analytics and technical data such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, referring site, and similar log information, collected through Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) and standard server logs.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses a small number of cookies. Some are necessary for the site to work and for performance and caching, and some are used by Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. You can refuse non-essential cookies through the cookie controls (where shown) and your browser settings. Embedded content (for example YouTube or Vimeo videos and the Substack subscribe box) may set its own cookies when you interact with it; those are governed by that third party’s privacy policy.
Third parties we rely on
We share data only with the services that help us run the site, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- Substack: newsletter delivery.
- Google (Analytics / Search Console): site analytics and search performance.
- Hostinger: website hosting and server logs.
- YouTube / Vimeo / Substack embeds: when you play or interact with embedded content.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, comments for as long as the post is published, and form messages for as long as we need to respond and keep a reasonable record. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s settings. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to: see what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it; object to or restrict certain processing; and receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these, email info@stridenote.net and we will respond as quickly as we reasonably can. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or via Substack.
Children
The site is meant for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, but no website can be completely secure. Please share sensitive information with care.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. We will change the last-updated date above, and significant changes will be noted on this page.
