Anthropic has launched Claude Corps, a national fellowship that will train 1,000 people early in their careers to use its Claude AI and place them full-time, in person, with nonprofits across the United States for a year. The company is committing an initial $150 million to the program.
How it works
The program runs as a partnership: Anthropic funds it, sets strategy, and provides Claude expertise; CodePath serves as the fellows’ employer of record and leads training; and Social Finance handles measurement and evaluation and is building a financial vehicle to help it scale. Each fellowship lasts 12 months, pays an $85,000 salary plus benefits, and includes intensive upfront training, five hours of ongoing training a week, a mentor, and a Claude usage budget.
Who it serves
At least 400 nonprofits are set to host fellows over the next year, spanning food banks, veterans’ groups, marine conservation, and education and community organizations such as Braven, Code the Dream, Heartland Forward, the Montgomery County Food Bank, Team Red White & Blue, REEF, and StriveTogether. Anthropic framed the effort as part of its responsibility to ensure the benefits of AI are widely shared during a period of economic change, and announced it alongside a policy framework on AI’s impact on work.
How to apply
Fellowship applications are open now and close July 17 for a first cohort of 100, which begins in October 2026; two further cohorts start in January and August 2027. Anthropic says anyone over 18 with less than two years of full-time work experience can apply regardless of educational background, provided they are authorized to work in the US, comfortable using Claude, and willing to relocate if needed. Host-organization applications are also open.
What happens next
Anthropic said it intends to scale the program well beyond 1,000 fellows, open-source some of the underlying technology so others can run similar initiatives, and explore replicating the model in other countries.
